(Published in The Norman Transcript April 28, May 5, 12, 2016, 3t) Little Axe Public Schools, Board of Education, ISD #70 seeks bids from qualified General Contractors for the construction of school expansions to the Elementary School and High School Gymnasium. The estimated construction cost is $3,200,000. Submit bids under seal to Jay Thomas, Superintendent, Little Axe Public Schools, Central Office Conference Room 2200 168th Avenue NE, Norman, Oklahoma 73026. Bids will be received no later than the 19th day of May, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. and will be publicly opened at that time. One or both projects may be bid. Interested General Contractors are invited to a mandatory Pre-Bid Conference. At the same location on May 3rd at 2:00 p.m. The project involves additions to existing school campus facilities: High School boys and girls locker rooms are being added with an open practice room and a connecting vestibule to the existing high school. This addition is 4,168 s.f. Elementary School 7 classrooms are being added to the existing elementary school through a connecting vestibule. This addition is 7,987 s.f. Both facilities will serve as tornado shelters and be constructed to ICC-500 Safe Room Standards. Construction is generally of CMU reinforced exterior walls on concrete slab-on-grade supported by spread footings with interior CMU and drywall walls. Floorings include exposed polished concrete and sealed concrete areas, some carpet tile areas in vestibules (walk-off matts), and vinyl composition tile flooring in the elementary school addition. Exterior veneers include Exterior Finish and Insulation Systems (EIFS) and metal siding. Roof systems include metal roofs and TPO single ply membrane roof areas. Bidders will be required to provide Bid security in the form of a Bid Bond in an amount no less than 5% of the bid amount. The bidders will be required to be submitted under a condition of irrevocability for a period of 30 days after submission. The Owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all offers.
